Abstract

1,140,538. Variable-speed ratchet gear; eccentrics. H. F. WEISS. 3 March, 1966 [9 March, 1965], No. 9360/66. Headings F2D and F2K. In a variable-speed ratchet gear comprising a variable-throw driving eccentric 30 connected to an input shaft 22 and acting on oscillatable levers 90 connected to an output shaft 26 through one-way clutches 84 and gears 86, 88, the eccentricity of the driving eccentric and a counterweight eccentric 32 are simultaneously adjusted in opposite radial directions, by hand wheel or motor, via a worm and worm-wheel 34, 36, a non-rotatable axially slidable ring 38 threaded in the worm-wheel, a ball bearing 46, and a member 42 axially slidable on, but rotatable with, the input shaft and acting on both eccentrics through co-rotatable, radial axes, pinions (56), (58) respectively meshing racks (48) fast with the member 42 and racks (70) on each eccentric. The pinions (56), (58) are fast on radial shafts (54) journalled in the input shaft and a support (50) fast therewith. The driving and counterweight eccentrics 30, 32 abut each other and have rectangular openings, sides of which engage, through flat plates (78), flats (76) on the input shaft.
