Abstract

114,020. Stone & Co., J., and Darker, A. H. March 13, 1917. Switches.-In a railway lighting system the main lamp switch is in the form of a sliding railway-coach switch, the slider 4, carrying two bridging-contacts 5, four pairs of fixed contacts being mounted on the base. The contacts 6, 6a are connected to the dynamo terminal 8; the contacts 9, 9<a> to the No. 1 battery terminal 17; the contacts 11, 11<a> to the No. 2 battery terminal 18, and the contacts 14, 14a to the lamp terminal 16 throught the fuse 15. In its mid-position the lamp resistance is short circuited, the two end positions of the switch being the two " on " positions. A spring 20 entering a notch holds the slider in its off position. The leads from the dynamos &c are led through a divided wood block 23 held by tongues on the casing 21 entering grooves in the block. In a modification having two " on ' positions the moving contacts of the switch oscillate between fixed stops about a central " off " position, the fixed contacts being arc-shaped.
