Abstract

1,139,824. Resilient mountings. NEIDHAKT S.A. 14 April, 1966, No. 16466/66. Heading F2S. In a resilient supporting device comprising one, or more, rubber or similarly resilient rings 6 rollably compressible between the overlapping sides of a pair of oppositely directed frustoconical load bearing members 2, 3, complete separation of the members 2, 3 is prevented by providing the member 2 with a tubular extension 1 which is adapted to engage a corresponding part in the member 3 so that the two members cannot accidentally become disengaged. The free end of the extension 1 has four outwardly directed lugs 7 upon which is mounted a circular clip 9 the latter, upon full extension of the unit, engaging corresponding lugs 8 formed on the upper end of the member 3. The members 2, 3 are assembled by passing the lugs 7 on the extension 1 between the lugs 8 on the member 3. Different lengths of the tubular extension 1 may be chosen according to the pre-loading required. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the clip 9 is omitted the tubular extension (1) and the member (3) being provided with lugs (11), (12) respectively which engage each other on maximum extension of the unit, after the two members have been assembled together and turned with respect to one another through an angle of 90 degrees. Recesses (13) in the components, for the insertion of suitable tools, facilitate the turning of the members (2, 3). In a further modification the tubular extension 1 may be constructed as a separate part fitted from outside, or inside, the member 2, e.g. by screws. A burring tool for forming an out-turned lip on the bottom of the tubular extension 1 can be introduced from above or, through a suitably large opening in the bottom of the member 3, alternatively the base may be provided with an inwardly directed conical projection against which the lower end of the extension 1 may be forced to flare out the lower end of the extension. A separate base insert, or bridging piece, may be incorporated in the member 3. In an alternative arrangement a tension hook, extending downwardly through the centre of the device, is fixed, at its upper end, to the base of the members 2, the device being provided with a pair of rollable elastic rings. The members 2, 3 may be of oval cross-sectional shape and, for large devices, more than one tubular projection may be employed.
