Abstract
1,139,613. Coating with metals. PODNIKY POLYGRAFICKEHO PRIEMYSLU, ODBOROVE RIADITELSTVO. Dec. 22, 1966 [Dec.22, 1965], No.57400/66. Heading C7F. In producing multi-layer offset printing plates, at least one metal layer 0À0015 - 0À0020 mm thick is electrolessly deposited on a suitable carrier, prepared by chemical or mechanical roughening, from an aqueous electroless plating bath at 40‹C., before or after the photo-mechanical formation thereon of a printing element. The carrier may be a metal plate, e.g. of Fe, Al, Cu, brass or Al bronze; or a non-metal plate, e.g. of laminated paper or fibre or plastic foil, activated in an aqueous PdCl 2 - HCl bath which may additionally contain a Au, Ag or Hg salt, and sensitized in an aqueous SnCl 2 - HCl bath. The layer may be of water repellent Cu and/or water absorbent Ni. Examples of aqueous reduction baths are specified, containing: (1) Ni acetate and NaH 2 PO 2 , for a Ni-P layer; (2) NiCl 2 , NaOH, ethylene diamine and NaBH 4 , for a Ni-B layer; (3) NiCl 2 , NaH 2 PO 2 and Na 3 citrate; (4) Na-K tartrate, NaOH, CuSO 4 and Na 2 CO 3 ; and (5) NiCl 2 or NiSO 4 , Na 3 citrate, Na 2 succinate, Na acetate, N-diethyl borazane and CH 3 OH.
