Abstract

1,139,412 Polyester/polycarbonate block copolymers. I.C.I. FIBRES Ltd. 11 Jan., 1966 [3 Feb., 1965], No. 4636/65. Heading C3R. Elastomeric block copolymers comprise (a) 55 to 70% by weight of polyester blocks of average molecular weight 1000-5000 and consisting of a multiplicity of divalent aliphatic or cycloaliphatic groups linked together by carboxylate linkages and (b) 30 to 45% by weight of polycarbonate blocks of average molecular weight 400-4000 and consisting of a multiplicity of aromatic nuclei linked together by carbonate linkages. The copolymers may be made by (a) reacting a haloformate of the polyester with an hydroxy terminated polycarbonate, (b) reacting an hydroxy-terminated polyester with a dihydric phenol and a dialkyl or diaryl carbonate or (c) by the method disclosed in Specification 1,139,413. Reactants specified are the same as those specified in Specification 1,139,413.
