Abstract

1,138,748. Automatic current control. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME FERNMELDEANLAGEN G.m.b.H. Sept. 26, 1966 [Dec. 14, 1965], No. 42778/66. Heading G3R. A load 5, e.g. an amplifier in a submarine cable installation, is supplied with constant current from two conventional current regulators connected in parallel, each regulator comprising a series valve 2a or 2b, a measuring resistor Ra or Rb, a setting means 4a or 4b, and an amplifier 3a or 3b over which the control signal is applied to the grid of the associated valve 2a or 2b, the regulators supplying the load over a common measuring resistor R; thus the control voltage for valve 2a is derived by comparing the reference voltage from means 4a with the sum of the voltage drops across resistors Ra and R, and the control voltage for valve 2b is similarly derived from the comparison between its associated reference resistors Rb and R. The specification explains how this arrangement provides a stable working point for the paralel connected regulators.
