Abstract

[Also in Division B2] In depositing flocks on mouldings against the influence of gravity by means of an electric field, the flocks are guided on an earthed, conductive, flock-carrying belt 10 into at least one zone beneath a moulding 1, means being provided in said zone for supplying a high voltage to a conductive holder 2 for the moulding 1 which holder is arranged at a distance above the belt, is insulated from earth and is moved through said zone. The holder 2 is connected to a pinion 5 by way of a shaft 3 and an insulator 4 and the pinion 5 engages with a rack 6. A number of such holders can be attached to a conveyer chain 7 driven by a motor via chain wheels 8 such that the holders can be transported through a series of zones and at the same time be rotated about their axes. Each shaft 3 carries a contact wheel 12 which engages with rails 13, carrying a high voltage, at each zone. Thus at each zone the holders are at a high voltage and the flocks are attracted from the belt on to the moulding, which has been previously coated with adhesive. The voltage applied to each rail 13 can be varied and different and the spacing of the holders from the belt can be varied. The holders and the belt can be arranged to move in the same direction or in opposite directions or at an angle, one to the other.
