Abstract
1,137,913. Utilizing waste heat from exothermic catalytic reactors to generate steam. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW Ltd. 12 Jan., 1966 [26 Jan., 1965], No. 3459/65. Heading B1X. Exothermic heat evolved in a catalytic reactor is utilised for steam raising by passing the hot gases produced over U-shaped water tubes 5 which are disposed after the catalyst in the reactor 1. Below the catalyst bed 3 openings 4 in the vessel are provided, one for a bundle of U-shaped tubes which have their ends expanded into apertures in a tube plate 6. A partitioned cover fits over each tube plate with a inlet for water and outlet for steam. Refractory lining ducting 13 is provided to direct the flow of hot gases over the tube bundles. The ducting may have by-passing passages for temperature control. A shroud 16 directs gas which has cooled in passing over the tubes back over steel members 17 which carry the refractory floor on which the catalyst bed rests.
