Abstract

1,137,540. Anti-hypocalcaemia compositions. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 8 Dec., 1967 [20 Dec., 1966], No. 56844/66. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C3] A pharmaceutical composition contains a calcium derivative of a polysacchoride which has been oxidized (see Division C3) to open at least 60% of the monosaccharide rings, substantially all of the open rings being oxidized to the carboxylic acid state and substantially all of the C-O-C linkages originally present in the polysaccharide still being intact, and a parenterally acceptable diluent, e.g. saline solution. CaCl 2 , MgCl 2 or a magnesium tetracycline derivative may also be present. The composition is injected, and combats hypocalcaemia in animals.
