A powder distributer comprises a frame 1 movable over the ground, a hopper 14 for the powder to be spread and spreading arms 31. Hopper 14 includes an agitator consisting of a downwardly converging part 89 which is hingeably mounted on vertical pins 94, 95 provided on a strip 93 secured to a rocker shaft 92 so that the part 89 is rockable about an axis 92A. Shaft 92 is driven by a shaft 79 through a coupling consisting of pivotally connected arms 102, 104, the latter projecting from a ring 105 rotatably mounted on an eccentric rigidly secured to the driving shaft 79. Alternatively, rocker shaft 92 may be driven through arms 102, 104 by a shaft (109) having a cranked end (108), Fig. 4 (not shown).
