Abstract

1,135,652. Electric motor casings. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. 25 May, 1967 [26 May, 1966], No. 23648/66. Heading H2A. A permanent magnet electric motor 1 driving, e.g. a vehicle windscreen wiper mechanism, has an end frame 3 and casing 2 forming its housing secured together by spring retainer clips 5 each of which has a hooked end part 6 engaging an end frame opening 1, a flat body part 8 which lies against the end frame side and adjacent end of the casing, and a loop 9 extending laterally from the body part on the same side as the hooked end and sprung into an opening 10 in the said casing adjacent end. The clips are of flat strip metal, and a reverse curvature portion 11 locates the loop in the casing. Holders 14 of commutator brushes 12 are mounted on a plate 17 clamped between the two housing parts 2, 3 and located by recesses (19), Fig. 3, engaged by end frame ribs 18. The end frame forms part of a gear-case (4), Fig. 2.
