Abstract

1,135,234. Testing fuel injectors and pumps. LESLIE HARTRIDGE Ltd. July 13, 1966 [April 13, 1965], No. 15823/65. Headings F1A and F1B. [Also in Division G3] In apparatus for testing fuel injection systems, the fuel supplied by a tank 46 is maintained at a predetermined temperature by a cooler 64 and heater 60 controlled by a thermostat 74 arranged in a confined space or passage 72 in the tank. The cooler 64, of the fluid cooled type, is arranged on the tank inlet pipe 62 and the heater 60 is an electrical heater. The thermostat 74, which controls the devices 64, 60, through solenoid operated switches, is arranged in a slot 72 in a baffle 70 through which fuel flows in passing from the inlet 62 to the outlet 54; alternatively the thermostat may be arranged in a narrowed port (78), Fig. 9 (not shown) of the tank. The testing apparatus comprises an electrically driven pump 48 feeding through pipe 56 a test injector 42 which discharges into a displaceable chamber by means of which the amounts injected can be measured and indicated on a dial 58.
