Abstract
1,135,020. Typewriter ink-ribbons. W. DABISCH. 17 May, 1966 [21 May, 1965], No. 21821/66. Heading B6F. [Also in Division D2] A typewriter ink-ribbon is formed by sandwiching two coloured strips 1 along one marginal edge 3 thereof between a laminated correction foil of paper or plastics 7, 8, one side of which carries a correction carrier layer 5. Strips 1 are bonded to the correction foil by a rubber cement thinned with xylene. In another embodiment (Fig. 2) a single coloured strip 1 is attached to a single foil 7. The marginal edge 3 is produced by coating it with cellulose acetate applied in the form of a solution in acetone hexylene glycol, the edge forming a barrier which prevents penetration of oily substances in coloured strip into the correction layer or softening of the adhesive bond. Correction layer is formed by a composition including 75 to 95% by weight of pigment, e.g. titanium dioxide or zinc sulphide and 5 to 15% by weight of a mixture of water, oil and glycerine resistant binder and at least one adhesive, the gravimetric binder/adhesive ratio varying from 5 : 1 to 1: 2. Binders include hard ceresines, purified montan waxes, chloronaphthalenes and polyethylenes. Adhesives include polyvinyl resins or natural resins such as calophonium or an aluminium salt of addition product of phenol resol with abietic acid. Plastics foil may be made of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or polyester.
