Heading C2C. 4-Nitroimidazoles of the formula wherein R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or aryl radical, A is a bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, B is a bivalent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical and X is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a nitro, sulphuric acid, sulphonic acid or hydroxyl group, are obtained by condensing compounds of the formula Z-A-O-B-X wherein Z is a reactive ester radical with the appropriate 4(5)-nitroimidazoles. The compounds have chemotherapeutic properties.
