Abstract
1,133,789. Detecting neutrons. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 27 June, 1967 [22 July, 1966], No. 33169/66. Heading G6P. In a neutron flux detector, adjustable gamma ray compensation is effected by a series of small ionization chambers, sensitive to gamma radiation. Two main ionization chambers, one sensitive to both gamma and neutron radiation and a second, gamma sensitive only, are connected in opposition. The resultant output signal is a function of incident neutron flux. To cause accurate neutralization of the gamma radiation signals, the small ionization chambers are selectively switched into circuit to effect a balance of the gamma signals in the main chambers.
