Abstract

1,133,224. Lenticular coatings. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 18 Nov., 1965, No. 48992/65. Headings B2E and B2K. [Also in Division C3] Lenticular pictures comprise a support bearing an image and in front of the image a lenticulated transparent coating of a composition containing one or more polyolefins, each polyolefin being a homopolymer, the density of the polyolefin component of the composition being 0.91 to 0.92 g/cc at 25‹C and the melt viscosity thereof being 5,000 to 20,000 centipoises at 150‹C. The compositions may be applied by extrusion coating to image bearing substrates of glass, metal, paper, cellulose esters, polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile, polyamides or polyesters. The compositions may also comprise 1 to 40 weight per cent of a terpene resin, e.g. polymerised α-and/or #- pinene; slip agents, e.g. oleamide or acrylated monoglycerides; and antiblocking agents, e.g. diatomaceous earth. In examples substrates bearing coloured stereographic images are extrusion coated with compositions comprising polyethylenes, optionally together with terpene resins, atactic polypropylene, oleamide, diatomaceous earth and hydrogenated hydrocarbon resin.
