Abstract

1338669 Coated plastics film SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 21 Sept 1971 [29 Sept 1970] 43892/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] A laminate comprising a polyolefin film and a film consisting of a mixture of 50-99% by weight of an acrylic polymer and 1-50% of a graft copolymer obtained by grafting vinyl chloride onto an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer is prepared by extrusion or solution coating of one layer onto the other. The polyolefin film may be polyethylene, biaxially-oriented polypropylene, polybutene-1, ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer or ethylene-propylene copolymer and the acrylic polymer may be a methylmethacrylate homopolymer or copolymer with styrene, acrylonitrile, N-arylmaleimide or C 1-8 alkyl acrylate or methacrylate. The graft copolymer may comprise 10-90% by weight of preformed ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing 20-90% by weight thereof of vinyl acetate and 90-10% vinyl chloride grafted onto the copolymer.
