Abstract
1,132,438. Heat exchange surfaces. CHEPOS ZAVODY CHEMICKEHO A POTRAVINARSKEHO STROJIRENSTVI OBOROVY PODNIK. 19 Feb., 1966, No. 7406/66. Heading F4S. A series of magnets is disposed in a heat exchange wall with their polar axes normal or substantially normal to the wall and with poles 2, 3 of opposite polarity alternating at a surface of the wall. The wall may include fins 7 projecting from the wall intermediate adjacent polar axes 2, 3 and magnets may be similarly arranged in the fins as shown. The magnetic field is said to intensify the rate of heat exchange between the wall and fluids in contact therewith. The magnets may be disposed on one or both sides of the wall in clusters or in a chequered arrangement. They may comprise granules of a permanent magnetic material embedded in the wall if the latter is of a non-magnetic or magnetically-weak substance such as brass, aluminium, graphite, or a synthetic plastic. Alternatively, magnetic zones may be produced in a hardened steel wall by spot magnetization.
