Hysteretic material in a magnetic coupling is arranged in circumferentially disposed strips 4 moulded or pressed into a non-magnetic carrier 3, the strips haying been made by rolling in their longitudinal direction. The carrier 3 may be of plastic, the other clutch member carries permanent magnets 5 sealed in a plastic housing 11, and the clutch members are separated by a gaptube 10.
