Abstract

1,131,774. Capacitors. E. STEINER. 4 April, 1967 [20 April, 1966], No. 15299/67. Heading H1M. In a process for making wound capacitors from foils of metallized plastics such as polypropylene, polystyrene or polyesters based on terephthalic acid, impregnation of the capacitor is carried out during the winding operation. As shown, foil 1 is taken direct from spool 3 to mandrel 4, while foil 2 first passes through impregnant 6, pressure roller 8 removing excess impregnant. Alternatively (Fig. 2, not shown), both foils pass directly to the mandrel which is submerged in impregnant. The winding device may be inside a vacuum chamber.
