Abstract
1,131,590. Nitrofuran derivatives. C. F. BOEHRINGER & SOEHNE G.m.b.H. 29 Aug., 1967 [31 Aug., 1966; 20 April, 1967], No. 39486/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula I, in which R is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, acylamino, nitro, carboxy, (C 1-3 alkoxy)- carbonyl or carbamoyl, are prepared by ring closure of compounds of Formulµ II, III or IV or by nitration of compounds of Formula V. Compounds in which R is carboxy may be converted, by known methods, to compounds in which R is alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl amino or acylamino, and compounds in which R is acylamino may be saponified to compounds in which R is amino. Starting materials of Formulae II, III and IV are prepared by reacting 2-hydrazinopyridines with 5-nitrofurfural, 5-nitro-2-furoyl chloride, or an alkyl 5-nitro-2-furylimidate, respectively. 3 - [ 5- Nitro - 2 -furyl] - 8 - triazolo - [4,3 - a] - pyridine - 6 - carboxylic acid azide is prepared by reacting the corresponding acid with thionyl chloride to form the acid chloride and reacting this with sodium azide.
