Abstract

1,131,101. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 1 March, 1966 [13 April, 1965], No. 15769/65. Heading H2E. A socket contact is formed with an inner tubular member 3 which has an external circumferential ridge 4, surrounded by an outer tubular member 5, which co-operates with the ridge 4 to permit limited rocking movement of the outer member with respect to the inner member. The outer member 5 has a restricted mouth 7, and a curved leaf spring 10 is located in the radial gap between the inner and outer members to urge the mouth of the outer member out of alignment with the bore of the inner member. The circumferential ridge 4 is convex in section and has a radius of curvature not substantially greater than the radius of the ridge, and preferably is in the form of a zone of a sphere. The sleeve member 5 has a constricted part 8 to prevent removal, and a stop flange 9 is provided on the body 1.
