Abstract
1,130,207. Travelling wave tubes. SIEMENS A.G. 14 Jan., 1966 [15 Jan., 1965], No. 1778/66. Addition to 950,637. Heading H1D. In a travelling-wave tube according to claim 1 of the parent Specification, the tuning stub is constituted by a metal body spaced from the waveguide walls and mounted on a support of dielectric material which extends in the axial direction of the waveguide. The metal body is preferably in the form of a cup, and is mounted on a quartz or P.T.F.E. rod which passes through the wall of a curved section of the waveguide to a micrometer driven adjustment plunger which permits adjustment of the effective length of the resonant slow wave structure to provide maximum output. Optimum dimensional ratios are given. Reference is made to modifications in which the slow wave structure is constituted of two series-coupled portions; the tuning plunger is at right-angles to the tube axis; and further tuning elements, additional and subsequent to the tuning plunger, are employed.
