Abstract

1,129,902. Continuous-form stationery. JOHN DICKINSON & CO. Ltd. 28 June, 1966 [2 April, 1965], No. 14027/65. Headings B6A, B6B and B6F. Packs of continuous stationery 10 are provided with a narrow extension part 16 extending beyond a line of weakening defining the end of the first or last sheet 12 of a pack whereby the end of an exhausted pack can be joined to the beginning of a new pack. As shown in Fig. 1, wherein a pack 10 is being fed into a machine 11 by sprocket wheels 15, the trailing edge of the pack is folded back over the pack so that the last sheet 12 with its extension 16 lies on top of the pack. Adjacent to the pack 10 is placed a similar fresh pack 18 the leading edge of which has a strip of adhesive 19. When the pack 10 is nearly exhausted, the last sheet 12 is bent back and its extension 16 is stuck to the strip 19, so that a continuous feed of stationery into the machine can take place. The pack 18 is moved into the position occupied by the stack 10 when the latter is finished, and is replaced by a new stack, all the stacks having an extension 16 and adhesive strip 19. An extension 16 may be provided at both ends. As shown in Fig. 4, the extension 16 projects rearwardly from the bottom of stack 10 so that the leading sheet 12 of the next stack 18 has to be bent downwardly to be attached to the extension 16. The extension 16 is of a width sufficient to accommodate a sprocket hole 14 at each edge, these holes and the leading sprocket holes in the top sheet of pack 18 permitting proper alignment of the two ends by means of pins which may be provided on a base, Fig. 4, or may be on a separate device (Fig. 3) permitting of their lateral adjustment.
