Abstract
1,129,852. Securing door knobs on latch casings. JOSIAH PARKES & SONS Ltd. 2 May, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 24068/66. Heading F2U. [Also in Division E2] A plastics or metal door knob 10 is rotatably mounted by a shouldered shank 12 in a boss 20 on a lock or latch casing 19, or a rose, with a latch follower 23, or a rose washer, keyed rotatably fast on the inner end of the shank 12 inside the latch casings, the knob 10 and follower 23 being axially secured together on the boss 20 by a hollow, or solid, rivet 28 seated in the knob, or against the face of the follower, and peened over at its opposite end, the assembly being completed by a plastics cap 11 snapped into an undercut recess 17 on, or adhered to, the knob end. The knob may, as shown, be formed with a key 22 engaging a keyway 25a in the follower, or both knob and follower may be grooved and jointly engaged by a spline on the rivet. Alternatively, the ends of the hollow rivet may be slotted for engagement with internal teeth on the knob and follower.
