1,129,774. Preserving surgical sutures. ETHICON Inc. 16 May, 1967, No. 22704/67. Heading A2D. A tubing fluid for preserving absorbable surgical sutures comprising a mixture of 75 to 96% by weight of ethanol, propanol, or isopropanol and 25 to 4% by weight of water, also contains in solution at least 0.01% of a monocarboxylic amino acid based on the weight of the mixture. Suitable amino acids are alanine, arginine, cysteine, glycine, histidine, hydroxy proline, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, proline, serine, threonine, and valine. The acid salts of these amino acids may also be used.
