Abstract

1,129,440. Dyeing cellulose fibres with reactive dyestuffs. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 23 Feb., 1967 [23 Feb., 1966], No. 8624/ 67. Heading D1B. Cellulose fibres, optionally in admixture with fibrous linear polyesters are dyed simultaneously in a single bath with reactive and disperse dyes at above 100‹C by the exhaustion process, the. dyebath containing, in addition to the dyes, an alkaline agent and a halogenated organic compound which acts as an acid donor by reacting with water to split of hydrogen halide. The pH of the dyebath initially is above 8 e.g. 9 tO 12 and when hydrogen halide has been formed is below 8 and is preferably 4 to 6. Conventional alkaline agents are used in amounts of 0.1 to 10g/litre dyebath and the halogenated organic compounds used in amounts of 0.4 to 40 g./litre dyebath and 0.1 to 10 parts by weight per part of the reactive dyestuff are aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic compounds containing one or more halogen atoms e.g. chloroacetic acid, 3-chloropropionic acid, phenyl-chloroacetic acid, 3-chloropropionic acid nitrite, ethylene chlorohydrin, 1, 3-dichloropropanol-(2), 1-chloro-propanol-(2), 3-chloropropylene oxide, 2-chloroethane sulphonic acid, 1-chloropropanol (2)-sulphonic acid (3), 3-chloropropane diol-(1, 2), 1-chlorocaprolactam, 2-trichloromethyl propanol-(2), 3-chloropropion aldehyde, or dichloroacetic acid, or the alkali metal salts, amides or anilides of these compounds. Reactive anthraquinone, azo or phthalocyanine dyes and azo or anthraquinone disperse dyes are used optionally in presence of a carrier. Red and blue shades are obtained.
