Abstract
1,129,071. Dechlorinating electrolytes; degassing apparatus. RUMANIA MINISTER FOR CHEMICAL INDUSTRY. 22 Dec., 1965, No. 54262/65. Heading B1M. Electrolytes, e.g. brine containing chlorine, may be degassed by atomising with a rotating disc followed by passage over a series of floors from each of which the liquid overflows sequentially to the vent. The pressure may be 600-650 mm. Hg and the temperature 60‹C. The apparatus (see Figure, not shown) comprises one or more atomising discs 3 to which the liquid is fed from pipe 2, and a series of floors 4 which may have a porous surface structure and have overflow orifices 5. A filter 7 is provided to intercept entrained droplets in gas removed at outlet 8 by the vacuum pump.
