March 16, 1917 Seals and sealing.-A seal for use in packing comprises a sheetmetal tag or plate a provided with a channel c formed by punching up strips b of the plate alternatively in opposite directions, and an inner metal tube d which is passed through the channel. The string or wire e is threaded through the inner tube d, and this tube is crushed by a pa.ir of pliers or other tool on to the projecting strips b, as shown in Fig. 5, or the tube and projecting strips b are crushed together.
