Abstract

1,128,539. Injection moulding machines; hydraulic presses. WERNER & PFLEIDERER. 8 Nov., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 49998/66. Headings B5A and B5F. In a press, particularly for injection moulding, and comprising mechanical lifting means 8, 9 for raising one mould half 3 away from the other mould half 2, fluid pressure means 4 is provided for counteracting the weight of the movable mould half 3 during opening of the press. The mechanical lifting means comprises an electric motor 8 and spindle 9, while the fluid pressure means comprises hydraulic cylinders 4. Fluid is initially released from a mould-locking cylinder 12 through a conduit 11. The force applied to the cylinders is sufficient to be just more or less than that required to raise the half 3, so that the lifting mechanism 9 either brakes or assists the vertical movement. At an upper end position a switch (15) operates a control member (16) to stop flow of oil to the cylinders 4 and supply oil either to cylinder 12 or through a conduit (17) leading to an injection cylinder (not shown). During closing of the mould, oil flows from chambers (13) of cylinders 4 through conduits 10 and a regulating valve (18) while the lifting mechanism operates.
