Abstract
1,128,165. Battery testing. H. MORTON. April 4, 1966 [April 9, 1965], No. 15284/65. Heading G1U. [Also in Division H3] A battery tester comprises a pair of normally conducting transistors TR1, TR2 and a normally cut-off transistor TR3. A fall in battery e. m. f. reduces the negative bias on TR1 until, at a point determined by variable resistor R3, transistors TR1 and TR2 cut-off to switch on oscillator TR3 producing an audible output at 6. The time constant of R3, R4, R5, C2 is adjusted to eliminate the effects of short transients, and in order to compensate for the reduced battery voltage on heavy load, the bias on TR2 is made dependent on the load current by means of resistor R10. This compensation circuit may be omitted, Fig. 1, (not shown)
