Abstract

1,126,956. Drying paper. BELOIT CORP. 21 March, 1966 [24 May, 1965], No. 12325/66. Heading F4G. A paper web W is dried by sinuous passage about vertically spaced rows of drying cylinders 20, 20 and 21, 21 against which the web is partially wrapped by upper and lower felts 22, 25 guided by idler rollers 23, 26 respectively. The idler rollers are spaced closer to the incoming side of the cylinders than the outgoing side of the adjacent cylinder in the row, e.g. at least 3 inches, and are equidistantly positioned between adjacent, vertically spaced cylinders so as to reduce the fluttering and billowing of the web.
