Abstract

1,126,630. Purifying oils. ASSOCIATED OCTEL CO. Ltd. 17 Aug., 1967, No.37984/67. Heading C5C. Lead is extracted from lead-alkyl-containing petroleum products by treating them with an aqueous solution of iodine monochloride, mixing thoroughly and separating aqueous and non- aqueous phases. The reaction is quantitative and the lead passes into the aqueous phase as soluble dialkyl lead halides.
