Abstract
1,126,521. Measuring dielectric loss; a. c. bridges. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 3, 1967 [Feb. 1, 1966], No.4425/66. Heading G1U. The dielectric loss of a capacitor X is measured by connecting it in a bridge fed from an A. C. voltage source HV, near to but different from the normal supply frequency, and having two adjacent arms La, Lb inductively coupled together, the out of balance voltage of the bridge being picked up by a search coil inductively coupled to the bridge and passed to a detector 5 through an attenuator which attenuates signals of the voltage source frequency to a lesser extent than interference signals. The third arm of the bridge comprises a variable standard capacitance S and the search coil is in two parts Lc, Ld. The latter form two arms of an auxiliary bridge of which the other two arms form the attenuator and comprise a series RC network 7, 6, and a parallel RC network 9, 8 respectively.
