Abstract

1,125,536. Stapling tools. FASTENER CORP. 13 Feb., 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 6783/67. Heading B4C. A magazine assembly 30 for a stapling tool comprises a housing including a fixed wall member 32 and a movable wall 34 adapted to be opened for the insertion of staples into the housing. The movable wall is guided in grooves formed in the fixed wall member 32 and is connected to a guide rail 40 for supporting a strip of staples 20; a spring-loaded pusher 46 for the staples is mounted on the rail. The guide rail is formed with a segment 44 which, together with side gussets 45, form a rear wall for a drive track 22 provided in the nose portion 24 of the tool. A spring-loaded latch 62 is arranged to maintain the movable wall and rail in the closed position shown in Fig. 3. The side walls 22b of the drive track diverge outwardly towards the rear wall as shown in Fig. 10 so that in the event of a staple becoming jammed, a corner of the driver 18 engages with one of the inclined walls 22b and is thereby cammed outwardly towards the wider portion of the track and so releases the staple. The driver may be pneumatically or electrically driven.
