Abstract

1,125,498. Mowing machines; hedge cutters. R. L. VAN DEN BERG and A. BOER. 19 June, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 28160/67. Headings AlE and A1F. A mowing machine for use on a slope or ditch comprises a frame 3 on which a beam 5 is supported so as to be pivotable about a substantially horizontal axis 6, the beam 5 carrying a number of cutter elements 9 and supporting at its free end one or more substantially horizontal shafts 11 each carrying beating or cutting bars 12. Cutting blades 27 may be located between the beating bars 12 and directed obliquely with respect to the plane of the support disc, and the ends of the bars 12 may be paddle-shaped for removing sludge at the bottom of a ditch. The shafts 11 are driven from the tractor power take-off shaft by belt and pulley drive 14, 21. The shafts 8 of the cutter elements 9 are staggered on each side of the beam 5 and are driven by belts 14, 19. A hydraulic cylinder 23 is provided for raising the beam 5. The beam 5 may be slidable on the frame 3 in a transverse direction. The machine may be used as a hedge trimmer in its vertical raised position.
