Abstract

1,125,426. Roller blinds. BRENEMAN Inc. 19 April, 1967, No. 18011/67. Heading A4B. A tubular blind roller 46 has a removable end plug 10 with a plurality of different length, longitudinal grooves 22 terminating in an end wall 22a which limits the extent to which the plug 10 may be inserted into the roller 46 so that the effective roller length may be adjusted in dependence upon which groove 22 is selected. In one embodiment, Figs. 1, 6, the plug 10 comprises an end disc 14 with a pin 16 fitted into the open end of a tubular body 12 formed by rolled sheet metal with a lap joint 18 including interengaging tongues 19, 20 and slots which allow a diametric contraction of the plug 10 when fitted. The roller 48 comprises rolled sheet metal with a longitudinal lock seam 48 the end of which forms a stop to be engaged by an end wall 22a. A secondary stop comprises a pair of diametrically opposite tabs 50 bent in from the roller walls to engage the end of the plug 10 if it is inadvertently knocked too far into the roller 46. In another embodiment, Fig. 8, the plug 110 is of moulded plastics and has two series of different length grooves 120-128, one groove of each series having an associated similar length groove (120<SP>1</SP>-128<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 10) in the other series. The plug 110 has an associated collar 210 with a pair of diametrically opposite projections 130, 130<SP>1</SP> which slidably engage a selected pair of grooves, e.g. 120 and 120<SP>1</SP>. The extent of movement of the collar 210 on the plug 110 is limited by engagement of the projections 130, 130<SP>1</SP> with end walls of the grooves. When fitted into a tubular roller (134) the collar 210 bears on the end edge of the roller (134). The tubular body 112 of the plug 110 is flared and longitudinally split at 124 to permit resilient, inward deformation when fitted.
