Abstract

1,124,967. Optical scanning system. K. S. PAUL & ASSOCIATES Ltd. 9 Dec., 1966 [9 Dec., 1965], No. 52418/65. Heading H4F. The Specification relates in general to an optical scanning system using the output half of a double Gauss lens system whereby for irradiating a flat surface with a light beam, parallel rays are all focussed thereby on to said surface irrespective of their angle of incidence on the lens, and for scanning an illuminated or radiant flat surface, all points on said surface produce a corresponding parallel beam from said lens. In an example of the former application a parallel beam of light is produced by a continuous laser 1 and lens 10 and is caused to move angularly to describe a desired scan by means of a mirror 2 rotating about orthogonal axes 6-7 and 8-9. The moving parallel beam is incident on the output half of a double Gauss lens system 3 at various angles and is focussed on a flat surface 4. Various other applications of the scanning system are referred to.
