Abstract

1,124,860. Double twist spindles. PALITEX PROJECT CO., G.m.b.H. 9 Dec., 1966 [11 Dec., 1965], No. 55335/66. Heading DID. A double or multiple twist spindle wherein the bearing between the stationary parts A and the rotatable parts B can be split to allow the stationary part to be lifted away is provided with a bearing having three rollers 14 disposed at the corners of an equilateral triangle. As shown the rollers 14 are tapered and mounted on the rotatable portion of the spindle. The shaft 4 running down the centre of the bobbin carrier 1 is tapered at its lower end to engage between the three rollers. A slit in the rotor plate 7 is aligned between two of the rollers to permit threading up. In Fig. 2, not shown the rollers mounted on carrier 1 and the rotatable portion is provided with a short, tapered upstanding shaft over which the rollers can engage. Cylindrical rollers with axes parallel to the axis of the spindle may be used mounted either on the rotatable or stationary parts of the spindle. In this case a step is formed on the shaft section on which the rollers bear to take the axial thrust; alternatively thrust ball bearings are provided to take this axial thrust.
