Abstract

Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1123609/C2/1> (wherein R represents H or an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group) are prepared by reducing, by means of a complex metal hydride in a liquid organic compound containing an ether linkage, the reaction mixture of bicyclo-(3.3.1)-nonane3,7-dione and an amine R1NH2 (wherein R1 has the meanings given for R other than H), or a compound of the general formula <FORM:1123609/C2/2> isolated from such reaction mixture, and, if desired, when R1 is an a -arylalkyl group, splitting this off by means of catalytically activated hydrogen. The products may be converted into addition salts with inorganic or organic acids.
