Abstract

1,123,279. Ball joints. A. EHRENREICH & CIE. 9 Dec., 1966 [14 Dec., 1965], No. 55182/ 66. Heading E2F. [Also in Division F2] In a ball joint the pin 5 is sealed where it extends into the housing 1 by an elastomeric gaiter 8 which is secured to the housing and pin by clamps 9 and 10 respectively and has an internal tapered sleeve portion 8b whose free end engages the pin. The cavity 11 between the pin and the gaiter is filled with grease during assembly. The pin head '4 is journalled in bearing pads 2, 3 urged together by a spring 7.
