Abstract

1,123,170. Stacking devices; endless conveyers. H. LINGL. 12 Oct., 1966 [15 Jan., 1966], No. 45600/66. Headings B8A and B8C. Brick blanks 11, supplied in longitudinal rows from battens 10 by a grab 12, are carried by a feed conveyer 1 as far as a fence 3 at the end of the conveyer to align the rows transversely. The fence is raised and the first transverse row of bricks is transferred to a conveyer 4 running at the same speed as conveyer 1. The drive to conveyer 1 is stopped until the first row has moved a required distance along the conveyer 4 when the drive to conveyer 1 is restored to transfer the second transverse row. In this way the distance between rows of bricks on the conveyer 4 may be regulated. The control of the conveyer 1 may be effected by programmed discs (7), Fig. 5 (not shown), selected by means of a switch (9). Each layer of bricks is lifted by a grab from the conveyer 4 and placed on a kiln truck, forming a square stack. In a modification designed to produce a rectangular stack on the truck, a separate conveyer runs on each side of the conveyer 1. A first layer of bricks is transferred to conveyer 4, using the conveyer 1 in conjunction with the side conveyers, but a second layer is transferred using only conveyer 1, a layer being formed equal in length to the width of the previous layer. When placed on the truck the second layer is rotated through 90 degrees relative to the first. The bricks may be supplied to the conveyer 1 by a pushing device.
