Abstract

1299348 Stacking articles DEUTSCHE BEDAUX GmbH 14 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 17706/70 Heading B8C In a method of putting goods 3 into and out of store, the goods are moved on a conveyer belt 7 along a store lane 6, are displaced by means of a transverse conveyer 9 on to a store belt 10 travelling in a store line 8 and are moved along on the store belt until they are raised from the store belt by means of a lift device and are fed to a platform 13 variable in height, from whence they are displaced by means of a transfer device 15 acting perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the store belt and deposited on the floor of the store, or on already stacked goods with gaps between the stack lines, and in each case a plate 4 of metal, synthetic plastics or the like is laid on a stacked layer of goods, and, for the removal from the stack, the gaps between the stack lines are scanned by the transfer device and the packaged goods are pushed off on to the platform from whence they are fed individually, in the reverse sequence from that when being placed in the stack, to the store belt via the lift device and are pushed off on to a despatch belt moving towards a despatch point. As shown in Fig. 1-3 the stacks are formed by a stacking device 11. The goods overlap the edges of the belt 10 and are lifted by two inclined conveyer belts 12 to the vertically adjustable platform 13 having a roller track 14 on to which the goods are pushed to form a row. The transfer device 15 grips the edges of the goods and pushes them on to a stacking layer covered with a plate 4, there being several stacking lines 16 fed by the same transfer device and spaced by gaps 17 which can be scanned by the transfer device 15 when goods are required to be taken from the stacks. The transfer device is operative on both sides of the store line 8. When goods are removed from the stacks they are moved by the track 14 and belts 12 and 10 in the reverse direction on to a dispatch belt 18. In another arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), the dispatch belt is at the end of the belt 10 opposite to that of the conveyer 7. The plates 4 are transferred from a magazine (23), by suction devices, on to the belt 10 and thereafter to the platform 13 from which they are applied to the stack layers by suction devices (22), Fig. 5 (not shown). In a further arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the plate magazine is located above the stacks and are applied or removed from the stack layers by suction devices (29) to either side of the belt 10. In another arrangement, Fig. 7, goods are lifted from the belt 10 by an endless bucket conveyer 32, each bucket comprising a V-shaped member 36-38, Figs. 9a, 9b the arms 36, 37 of which engage the goods below the edges of the belt surfaces. In other forms the lift-off device comprises a pair of driven belts (41) which engage the opposite faces of the goods and move them up a ramp (40), from the belt 10 which is a roller conveyer, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown), and in Figs. 12a, 12b (not shown), the ramp (40) is by a driven belt 46 and replaces the belts (41). In another form Figs. 13a, 13b (not shown) a roller track 43 constituting the platform 13 interengages the rollers of track 10. In another arrangement, Fig. 14 (not shown), goods from the store belt 10 (not shown), are pushed on to a roller track (24) located at each end of the store line and are conveyed to a dispatch point via inclined conveyers (25) (26) the conveyer parts 26 each having a flap 27 controlled by movement of the goods.
