An inductor for induction heating comprises a winding 14 and a lining of longitudinal fillets 11 of non-circular cross-section with an insulating layer 13 between the fillets 11 and the winding 14, at least one fillet being replaced by a metal guide fillet 12 of circular cross-section made from non-magnetic material. The fillets (31) may have bosses and recesses for cooperative interengagement, (Fig. 3, not shown). The inductor itself is of circular or non-circular cross-section. The fillets 11 may be solid or hollow, as may the guide fillets 12. The crosssection of the fillets 11, (31), is trapezoidal or rectangular (Fig. 3, not shown).
