Abstract

1,122,582. Grinding mills. O. DORRIES. G.m.b.H. 27 July, 1965 [22 Aug., 1964], No. 32088/65. Heading B2A. [Also in Division D2] Apparatus for exerting a shearing grinding action on fibrous material to be used in the production of paper, cardboard, or pasteboard comprises co-operating relatively movable grinding members each of which includes a supporting body having a plurality of separate individual working pins secured thereto, each pin projecting outwardly of the surface of the said body and having working edges on its projecting end face spaced from such body surface, the area of said projecting end face being less than the area of the smallest non-reentrant figure enclosing said face. One grinding member is moved e.g. rotated, relatively to the other grinding member which is either moved or stationary. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, the supporting body 1 has non-releasably secured thereto tubular pins 2 having working surfaces 12 formed with cutting edges. The body 1 may be formed of metal, plastic, or ceramic and the pins 2 may be formed of the same material as, or different material from, that of the body 1. Alternatively, the body 1 may be conical, and the pins 2 may have a square, triangular or elliptical crosssection. Also, the pins may be releasably secured to the body. In another form, the pins 9, Fig. 9, are of chevron shape. Alternatively, the pins may be semi-circular or semi-cylindrical. In a further form, the pins project from opposite surfaces of the supporting body. In a still further form, the working faces of the pins are inclined to the axes of the pins and may be planar, curved or stepped.
