Abstract

Articles are made by dissolving one or more metals, e.g. Al, Sb, As, Ba, Ca, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Li, Mg, Mn, mischmetal, Ni, K, Na, Th, Ti, or Zr, in a melt of Zn in a proportion to form a second solid phase upon solidification of the melt, pelletizing the melt with rapid cooling and extruding the pellets at a temperature insufficient to redissolve the second solid phase. The pellets are preferably made using a disc or jet type atomizer and have average diameters of 0.8 mm or less. They are pre-heated to 400-700 DEG F and extruded from a container at 300-600 DEG F.
