Abstract
Coating compositions comprise (a) a compound of formula <FORM:1122414/C3/1> in which Y is -CH = CH2 or <FORM:1122414/C3/2> (b) a water-soluble film-forming cross-linking agent for (a), (c) water, in amount at least 65 wt. per cent of the total solvent, and (d) 0-35 wt. per cent of the total solvent, of an organic solvent which is at least partially miscible with water and which is compatible with (a) and (b). Components (b) specified are aminoplasts, polycarboxylic acids, polyaminoamides, polyaminoimidazolines, phenol - formaldehyde resins, polyvinyl alcohols, partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate, polymers and copolymers having carboxyl groups and water soluble alkyd resins. The compositions may also contain pigments, fillers and flow control agents.ALSO:Lacquer coatings are formed on non-textile supports by applying compositions comprising (a) a compound of formula:- <FORM:1122414/B1-B2/1> in which Y is -CH=CH2 or -CH2 CH2O <FORM:1122414/B1-B2/2> , (b) a water soluble film-forming cross linking agent for (a), (c) water, in amount at least 65 wt.% of the total solvent, and (d) 0-35wt.% of the total solvent, of an organic solvent which is at least partially miscible with water and which is compatible with (a) and (b). The compositions may also contain pigments, fillers and flow promoting agents. They may be applied by spraying, dipping, brushing or roller coating to metallic objects, e.g. of aluminium and cured cold or with heating. They may also be applied to wood and masonry. Components (b) specified are aminoplasts polycarboxylic acids, polyaminoamides, polyaminoimidazolines, phenol-formaldehyde resins, polyvinyl alcohols, partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate, polymers and copolymers having carboxyl groups and water soluble alkyd resins.
