A manometer for measuring differential pressure head within a given range embodies a horizontal tube which serves as a constant level reservoir for the measuring liquid and provides an invariant zero reference level for the liquid column balancing the differential pressure, the nature of the measuring liquid and the dimensions of the manometer being such that within the given range, the lower end of the liquid column rests in the horizontal reservoir tube and its upper end in a non-horizontal measurement tube connecting with the horizontal reservoir tube, thus enabling the differential pressure to be read by a fixed scale along the measurement tube. The reservoir tube may be coiled in the horizontal plane and it may be of uniform bore different from that of the measurement tube. Two measurement tubes may communicate through a common horizontal reservoir tube; the measurement tubes may be of the same bore set parallel side by side with a common scale. The inclination of the measurement tubes may be adjustable and horizontal and vertical alignment means may be provided.
