Abstract

1,121,123. Seats. SHORT BROS. & HARLAND Ltd. 2 Sept., 1965 [2 Sept., 1964], No. 35962/64. Heading A4J. In a seat, constructed of laminated material, back rest members 2 are pivotally supported, for angular adjustment, on transverse partition walls 3, provided at the ends and middle of a trough-shaped seat pan (1). The walls 3 may be secured in the pan by angles (7). Metal legs 5 may be bolted to the pan. A support member (6, Fig. 3, not shown), for cushions, is stretched between the upper edges of the pan. The laminated material has a core of balsa wood, metal or paper honeycomb or foamed plastics bonded between sheets of metal, plastics, resin impregnated fibre, wood veneer or plywood. Preferably, the pan, walls 3 and members 2 are contructed of a laminate, having a core of balsa wood sandwiched between sheets of aluminium alloy.
