Abstract
1,120,860. Conveyers for material. STEPHENS-ADAMSON MFG. CO. 25 Oct., 1966, No. 47839/66. Heading B8A. Raw sugar or damp loam are dumped by a tipping vehicle 40 into the hopper 12 of a screwconveyer 14 which feeds an endless belt 76 and associated thrower drum 72. The latter projects the load in the direction of the arrow 90 into a pile (not shown). The screw conveyer varies in diameter and pitch in an axial direction and is rotated at 90 R.P.M., by an individual motor (53) (Fig. 3, not shown) via a reduction gear 54. The latter is associated with an overload release device (182) (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown). A cylindrical extension of the hopper 12 extends within the periphery of the drum 72. The latter is driven at 700 R.P.M. by a motor 88 acting through a belt drive 228 and a drive pulley 78 of the belt 76. The angle of projection may be adjusted by movement of a frame 262 carrying a pulley 84 (of the belt 76) about a pivot 264. Tension of the belt 76 may be adjusted by linear movement of the axle of the pulley 84. A further pulley 82 is mounted on a frame 273 which is tiltable about an axis joining pivots 275, 277. This frame carries guide rollers 283 which bears on the respective side edges of the belt.
